New beta: DGT support finished and training repetition issue fixed

You can get the version here:

Download beta version

If you have CPT 3.2 installed you can just unzip the file to any folder and run the exe file.

DGT support has been implemented for the training module and the edit mode.

Furthermore I have been working on the so called "infinite" or "repetition" bug of the training center where CPT would stick to a certain line sometimes.

I would appreciate if some players would verify that the bug is gone now before I release the version.

Thanks!

Stefan

I hoped that moves can be entered with DGT board as well!

That will be perfect!

Yes, with this version you can enter moves too. Only pawn promotion is missing. I want to finish it this weekend. Any feedback is appreciated!

One hint: There is a command called "white move now" / "black move now". You have to drag & drop the king on the same square to trigger this event. Then CPT will move for the other side the first candidate move. This way you can easier navigate through your repertoire in the edit mode.

Hi, I tried the DGT support option and it worked fine when it came to entering new moves and variations. However, when I tried to open the training part, I was greeted with an error (pushing 'continue' did not help either). The training portion works fine if I uncheck the DGT option, so I suspect there may be a problem there.

Many thanks for the super-quick response. I have tested the new version and it appears to be working well.

Are there any plans to implement the voice announcement of moves? This seems to be working to working partially already, but in addition to the actual move from CPT, I am hearing additional announcements of portions of my moves too. Is this what I should expect or maybe I have to change a setting on the DGT software?

I would certainly recommend the use of the DGT board with CPT to other users ... a combination of the best software with the best hardware. It doesn't get any better than this!

The infinite bug isn't solved in version c. In version e Cpt doesn't repeat a certain variation but also doesn't let me train the lines where I haven't 100%. I will do some more testing but it seems that the bug isn't completely solved.

regards Tom

@Tom: Thanks for your feedback. Could you please elaborate a little bit more on your statement "In version e Cpt doesn't repeat a certain variation but also doesn't let me train the lines where I haven't 100%."

Do you mean that it does not repeat a specific 100% line anymore, but any 100% line instead of a <100% line?

In this case please verify that your training settings allow CPT to look ahead enough moves (e.g. if it is set to 5 moves and till move 5 all lines have 100% it will randomly pick a line).

If you can reproduce a problem and send me an example repertoire (check File->ZIP) you would help me very much to fix the problem timely - if it is a bug and not an issue of the settings. You can send the file to stefan.renzewitz @ this domain (chesspositiontrainer.com).

No bug. It's an issue of the settings.

just wondering, does the new exe do any changes to the older one, or do I just start CPT with this new exe every time from now on?

Just start the new one. It doesn't require any previously installed CPT version and is independ of the other version except for the training settings I believe.

On the other hand you can now download the officially released version (which is practically the same, but with an installer and new version number).
