Today I have added a feature which I call right now "photo reading" as original invented by Paul Scheele. Again, this is a feature by user request similiar to space repetition.
While I'm still trying to apply the concept best to chess you can get a brief overview of the general idea in the Photo Reading Review by Steve Pavlina.
Right now it works like this: CPT will throw some position at you. Similiar to the demo mode you can't make any move. Instead after a short time CPT will show you the correct move by an arrow and then will move on to the next position. Sounds very similair to the already existing demo mode? Right, but the nuances are key here. It won't walk you through complete lines, but instead a little bit more randomly. Also all this is happening at a fast pace. You will be presented many positions within a single minute.
New options:
So what? Well, here comes your subcounscious into play. Without noticing
you will remember positions and moves. Sounds like magic? Don't worry,
you will be able to give it a try with CPT 4 and then decide on your
own. Right now I'm thinking about how to apply this concept even better for chess.
At the moment I believe this is not going to kill the other new training mode which CPT 4 will offer, but it took just remarkably 4 hours of development time to implement this feature. This brings me to another topic: the new framework of CPT 4 is starting to pay off. Adding new strategies to the training module is a piece of cake now. If there is any other training strategy you would like to see in CPT 4, please let me know.
I saved the best for last: I believe the new training module is feature complete (unless you suggest to me irrestible new training modes) . I'm right now in testing mode. It will have more or less all CPT 3.3 training features and then some. It should be easier to configure and the overall integration is smoother. More on this soon!
