    Application Error

    When I attempted to delete a candidate move, having entered text into the comment field, CPT crashes and I get a pop-up window that says:

    An error has occurred in the application.: 

    An external component has thrown an exception.

    I don' t know where to look for log files or further data.  It's not the first time this has happened.  I don't know if I can reproduce it or not.

    It seems to happen pretty regularly after I enter a comment and then try to delete a different candidate move.

    Thanks for reporting this. Please try to delete the candidate move via the menus instead of the delete button. Does that work?

    Yes.  I can safely delete the move after selecting it using the menu.  It is clicking the red x that causes the application error. And, in fact it doesn't seem to have anything to do with entering comments at all, or whether the move being deleted is selected.

    OK; then this is a known issue. You can find in the forum another thread about this topic. The problem is unfortunately inside the list view control I'm using for the candidate move list. It sounds like a stupid and easy thing to fix, but its unfortunately not. I spent many hours on it and got a workaround for most situations, but somehow for some users it still can happen on delete though I haven't been able to reproduce it anymore making it hard for me to fix. However, as I'm using totally new controls for CPT 4 the problem will be gone automatically.

    I just got this error after using 3.3 for quite some time.

    I tried reinstalling 3.3 and .net 1.1 to no avail.

    Is there any work around say by uninstalling before reinstalling?

    Interestingly, after a day of deleting candidate moves using the menu instead of the red X on the move itself, CPT 3.3 started working again so I can now delete moves both ways!

    Yes, the delete button in the row can be buggy. Unfortunately it is a bug inside the list control and I can't access the code. The good news: I'm not using it anymore for CPT 4.

    The menu or right click context menu should always work.
