    Vista Workaround?

    Hi Stefan,

I know that CPT 4 will fix the problems that currently exist with Vista, but in the mean time, are there any workarounds to make 3.3 work properly?  Currently it goes into some type of infinite loop when you click on a menu and locks up when deleting a line.

    Thanks,

    Ron

    Re: Vista Workaround?

    Hi Ron,

unfortunately I don't have a PC with Vista installed yet (I'm about to buy one soon though) and I'm not aware of any workaround. Do keyboard short-cut works? That would not be a really satisfying solution anyway, I know. Sorry, I fear you have to wait some more months for the next version to make CPT work properly under Vista.

    Regards,

    Stefan

    Re: Vista Workaround?

    Hi Stefan,

Thanks for the reply.  I actually did come up with a fix.  Vista has some great compatibility features for "legacy" programs.  By right-clicking on the shortcut in the start menu and going to properties and then to the compatibility tab you can access these features.  I found that by setting it to run CPT in Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode and checking the boxes to disable desktop composition and visual themes that everything works perfectly (including menus, deleting moves, etc.)  That'll get me by until CPT 4 comes out.

    Thanks again!

    Ron

    Re: Vista Workaround?

This might help if you're unable to access the compatibility options from the properties of the CPT shortcut: go to the ChessPositionTrainer.exe file in the program folder and make these changes.   For some reason, the compatibility options don't show up in the shortcut but they do show up in the .exe file.
