"Jump to worst position" training me in losing lines?

Hello first I would like to say this is excellent software and thanks for making it available.

When I use training mode and 'jump to worst position always' it will often jump me to a position I should never be training in, because this position came about from a line in which not the top candidate move was chosen for the color of my sub-repetoire.

I have the following settings checked: sub repetoire is set to black, which candidate move counts as correct: top ranked candidate move

which moves should cpt take into account to test you in:  your color: only top ranked candidate moves  opponent color: all moves

An example of what is happening is that I start training, and I am in a line that is losing for black.  For example on move 10 there were 2 candidate moves:  o-o and Qxg5.  O-o is on top and is the best move.  Qxg5 I have set a ? mark on and leads to a forced losing variation.  Cpt will jump to a position in the qxg5 losing line.

I would prefer it if I would only be jumped to positions that are in my 'best candidate move' sub-variations of my repetoire.  It appears that it is only jumping to positions of my worst score even though I should never be trained in those positions.

I think maybe a work -around for me would be to set negative evaluation marks on all secondary move possibilites for my color, however that would not be satisfactory as it would hurt my understanding of the positions if I put a ? mark on a move that is actually OK yet just not in my preferred repetoire.

Thanks anyways and I still love this software even if I cannot use the 'jump to worst position always' feature. :)

    Hello,

thanks for your comment. I'm aware of this limitation. This is a tricky topic. I've decided to write a blog entry about it.

    You can find it here.

    Cheers,

    Stefan
